The Photographer
About Amara
I grew up an hour east of here, in a family that took a lot of photographs and kept almost none of them printed.
That is basically why I do this. I studied photojournalism, spent four years shooting for a Fort Worth paper, and started photographing weddings for friends on the weekends because I missed working with people instead of headlines. Ten years later it is the only job I have kept.
I live in Plano with my husband, our daughter, and a dog who has ruined more than one white dress hem. I shoot weddings and portraits across Dallas, Fort Worth, Wylie, and everywhere in between, usually with one camera bag and no assistant.
We talk before the camera comes out
A short call or coffee first, so I know your people, your timeline, and what actually matters to you.
I shoot light, not poses
A few simple prompts, then I stay quiet and let the day happen. Most of what you'll love was never staged.
